The Responsibility of ALL of Us

I’m doing well. I’m going to need a full body massage after 1.5 years of this, BUT IT’S GREAT!
We’re going to have to move because the member whose house in which we’re living sold it. We have 20 more days to find a cheap 3-room house close to the church... nearly impossible. Luckily, the Campinas ward—where Sister Diller and Sister Soneghet are assigned—has a great Relief Society organization. The 10th is a transfer, and I dreamed that all 4 of us will stay together. That’s cool with me. I will finally be done with all the “newbie training,” so we can get to the juicy stuff for companionship study. Sister DeO wants to read D&C. She’s never read it before.
We´re preparing to celebrate São João festival. It’s basically like..."harvest festival" where everyone dresses like cowboys and "Mexican dresses," entendeu? I FOUND THE " " BUTTON! Success!
We´re trying to work with less actives here. There are only 2 less-active families we can work with. Crazy, huh? No wonder the mission is pressing the idea of baptizing families. One family hosted a few families of the

ward together for Family Night at their house... and apparently the mom hadn’t been sleeping at home for nights on end. The mom arrived after we had to leave, and the members all still stayed. The dad was fed up with it and packed his bags. She has been repenting, but he’s not going to return. Cool.... The family hasn’t been to church yet. The other family we have visited 4 times. The past 2 times, the parents didn’t get out of bed to answer the door... even though it was only 4 PM. We called the dad one day and encouraged him to take his family to church. He was speechless. Then Sister DeO said he should read Jacob 3. You should read it. BAHAHA! Alls I’m gonna say is... I’m glad she didn’t say Jacob 2.
We have filtered through lots of investigators. The investigators here are either really old or really young. Right now, we’re working with Maria da Graça, 64, who is a bit crazy. But she has confirmed that we are angels sent from God, because we have answered her prayer many times. Dona Marlenne, in her 60´s, is very involved in her church but accepts us every time we visit her little shop. We answered her prayer one day by visiting her and calming her spirits with words from the Book of Mormon. She said she will visit the church after she reads 12 pages of the Book of Mormon. We have never succeeded in getting our progressing investigators to church, except for yesterday. We had Melissa, the daughter of Marcos, at church and some crianças [children] that some sisters baptized back in the época [era] of "chuck ‘em in the water." Que vergonha. [What a shame... in regards to that particular era.] |

We have met 3 people who have straight up told us that they know the church is true. They read or prayed and received an answer, but they don’t want to mix their religions. They don’t want to change religions... and return to live with God? They don’t want to be baptized with the authority of God? Oooookayyyyyyy.
The presidencies have made goals together—all of them—to help in missionary work. So, even the primary kids committed to bringing friends to church and giving us references. Brilliant! It is the responsibility of ALL of us to warn our neighbor. Love, Sister Nelson |
P.S. YUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSH! Kristi, love her guts!!
It’s a good thing we didn’t spend much on my English scriptures, because I hardly touch them. Really.
