A Challenge to My Dear Friends
August 20, 2012
I`M BEING TRANSFERRED! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Happy 6 months to me! So, let's see, Sister Nelson, if you've really learned how to swim or if you've just been treading water. Rrrrrreadygo. Okay, okay, I admit it! I still need my floatie water wings! Oh, please don't make me do this! Eeeeeeeeek! |
So, maybe it won't be as bad because I'm going to be companions with Sister SONESONE!!! Yussss, she was
Back row: District Leaders Elder Briglia and Elder Huntington
Front row: Sisters DeOliveira, Diller, Soneghet, and Nelson. |
the companion to Sister Diller. She's serving in Jacarepaguá, has lived in the United States, and both of her parents served a mission. Soneghet means “only lover of Negroes” or something like that. She's a very hard worker; but she has always had a weak immune system, which means I will have to be VERY hygienic because I usually get sick and pass it to others. Yes, I'm a carrier. INFECTED! Herherherhehehe. I was sick this last week, nothing like dengue fever, though.
[Dengue fever is a painful, debilitating, mosquito-borne viral disease. Today, I informed her that one of her friends, serving in another Brazilian mission, already contracted it.] When I get sick, it always starts with a ridiculously sore throat and ends with impossible-to-get-rid-of flegm. Okay, you can stop laughing at my poor spelling, okay? Thanks. |
I'm excited to learn new things, but I already regret leaving without taking pictures with the "highlights" of
the ward of Santa Margarida. Sister DeOliveira, sadly, has yet to leave her first area, poor thing. Haha. She will stay here and will get Sister Gordon, an American, as her new companion. Sister Diller will be with Sister Taylor. It's a whitewash because they had to close Sister Taylor's area; and Sister DoVale, her companion, is going home. Three sisters are leaving, and we're only receiving one. Sad day. I will be living in the apartment at which I stayed my first two nights in Rio, but I think it's better because Sister Sonesone is really clean. Good golly, there is just so much to say!!
I'm happy to transfer because: #1 new experiences, and #2 the ability to retry this whole missionary thing. I still feel like I know *this much* (indicate fingers 1 centimeter apart) about effective missionary work. Humility, here I come. |

The ward here took a 24-hour trip to the Campinas Temple. They left 5 PM Friday, drove a bus or something like that all night, arrived there in the morning, and returned Saturday around the same time. Sister DeO
sent the name of her dad and nephew to the temple, and now she has two leaves of blue in her journal. The power of Elijah here is real and STRONG to the point that, as a new missionary here, I pleaded with our ward mission leader and bishop to have more seminars on family history. After all, if there needs to be a temple here, there needs to be arduous temple work here! I'm going to miss this area :´(

I'm sending out a challenge to my dear friends who sometimes skim over my emails in this really cool blog my mommy is taking care of. So, I'm now 21 and 1/2. Take a picture of you doing something that has to do with the number 21. For example, you strumming 21 guitars at once, or you with 21 raisins in your mouth, or something you bought that would cost 21 cents. Or you can make it spiritual, like Alma 32:21. Be creative!
I know you all are creative. Miss and love you all :) ENDURE TO THE END! |
So... be more creative than this bunch, for example.

Love,
Sister Nelson
P.S. Happy Anniversary, Troy and Sheana! Sorry I missed Rachel and Brandon's anniversary. :(
