A Mission is SO WORTH IT.

Our apartment hallway where the elevators are has a huge mirror. This week, when we were walking in the hallway, I caught a glimpse of us... and I was so proud to identify myself as the one who was wearing The Black Nametag. A mission is so worth it. Uma missão vale a pena para sempre! [A mission is worth forever!]
So, last week, we got to teach the family who—for a while—has been frequenting the other ward. They were a referral from an RM lady, Blanche. She is SO COOL! She’s the daughter of Tita, a really famous soccer player here. She studied at BYU and is just ridiculously awesome. The problem with the family who has been frequenting the other ward is the husband made fast friends with the elders there (our ZLs) and there was a sort of "fight" as to who will teach them. Plus, the family was really busy. At last, we got permission to teach at least the first lesson all together. Zone Leader Elder Salvino (tall Chinese character) went first, then Elder Monteiro (from Manaus). The mom, Denise, commented that she considered us as prophets; and Elder Monteiro didn’t really clarify. Boo. Then I gave the First Vision. Sister Soneghet was our last leg to bring us home; and, boy, did she bring us home! When we compared notes afterward, she said, “When you finished your portion, I was like, ‘Okay, now I'm gonna kill ‘em with the spirit!’" And she did just that. She bore testimony, made BOTH Gil and Denise cry, promised blessings, showed how the other promises she made before were fulfilled, and they were so excited to receive an answer for themselves that they promised they would tell us the next day (Sunday) at church. |
Denise was out of town this Sunday, and Gil has had us waiting on the edge of our seats this whole time! (It has been a week.) We have 2 family nights here, and we talked to Gil alone with our LMA [Ward Mission Leader] and Blanche (they're dating hahah) and challenged him to propose to Denise. He has always wanted to get legally married. It’s the same situation with our other family, Luciene and Julio Cesar. He’s willing to make the sacrifice of getting married to get baptized, but Luciene has doubts. Booooo. BUT, Gil said that if we can give a really good lesson tonight for family night and she accepts to get married, he will stop everything and propose to her RIGHT THERE. We're super stoked. FAMILYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!
So, I have been studying about families a lot lately, and you know the promises and prophecies about from the mouth of two or three witnesses? Yeah, that's talking about family, too! Check it, we all have a DAD and a MOM, count...1....2. AND and and and if you have sibliiiiiings....3...4...5…6…7...8…9...10 para você! [for you!] |
Things are finally happening! After the few (few defined as 3-5, mind you) very difficult Poor-Sone-breaking-down-because-we-have-no-one-to-teach weeks at the beginning of the transfer (I CANT BELIEVE TRANSFERS IS NEXT WEEK! Say whaaaa?), things are looking up. Bishop loves us (Sone because she rocks and me because I love his cooking hehe, hey, I do what I can to make friends), our less-actives coming to church and wanting us to come visit their family, references from members, members feeding us every time we stop by (Sone hates it, but I just laugh and jiggle my belly. This is why Santa is so jolly. Just accept it, yo. Winkey face.), AAAAAND we actually had lunch with a lady of the RS presidency who always always always always always gives money and never cooks! This, even Rosane (the lady who organizes the lunches) admitted is a miracle. Anil is turning Anil, meaning if you were a member of the Anil ward and you had a mood ring, it would be indigo because you're just so tranquil and happy. :)
Baaaahahahahahah! Thanks, Dadd´-o! I know you’re always on my team.
LEXI! Good heavens, I’m so glad I actually can say I know that girl. I feel unworthy to call her my friend; but if we had more time to hang out, we would be bffffffffff's! [Lexi, our delightful friend, spoke in church yesterday and will begin her mission to Singapore on October 10.]
