CarNATAL
As a result of some “fubecagem” [slacking; messing around], I decided to open my Christmas and Valentine’s Day boxes last night at midnight. Here, the tradition for Christmas is to wait until midnight and open presents and eat. And I thought WE were impatient waiting for the morning as little kiddies. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE LOVE! Mom, it was an inspiration to put lots of tops together, because I opened the box with 4 sisters and not just Sister Carvalho. So, everyone got a top. However, Sister Carvalho chose the pink top that I wanted. Oh well, as a mommy, you have to learn to give your best, give your all to your children. We are staying here in the Lan House, and the parade is being televised. (The place where they were keeping all the floats was the place we passed by to get to the training session for trainers. I wanted SO MUCH to take pics as if “LOOK! I WAS THERE!” Not really, but it’s close, right?) They have a parade for 3 days straight!?! Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and tonight we are to be in the house by 6 pm. Presidente Lima commanded us to study chapters 1, 4, 5, and 9 [of Preach My Gospel] to keep us busy. Until now, we only read chapter 1 and a bit of 9, hahaha. After all this time of waiting for Carnaval to come so we would have time to read in the house (I wanted to read Jesus the Christ), we ended up being called to repentance because we have to study PMG daily. It’s a commandment for missionaries, AND there is specific direction for leaders of the church. Anyway, we can’t teach beyond our own understanding and conviction. Maybe that’s why we aren’t baptizing. I don’t have enough faith. |

We will have a tri-zone conference in Niterói for Carnaval. Good idea! Yesterday, the sisters in Cabo Frio decided to return home after being confronted by “trebados” in speedos, who decided to make their speedos like thongs for these lovely representatives of God. :/ São Pedro was empty. You could hear the cat down the street eating a grain of rice. We tried all our appointments, plans, knocked doors, and even then they didn’t want to hear about God. When we returned home, we were teased by a cross-dresser in a bikini while his posse cheered him on... in front of a church. O, Brazil. |
Place of Birth: Cabo Frio Bishop William has been happy to see that Cabo Frio has become a place of birth instead of a cemetery. I became Senior here, and my 2 daughters and my grandchild were born here. [For those who need explanation: Sister Nelson is now training a second sister, so she is the second “daughter.” Her first daughter is training, so Sister Nelson has a “granddaughter.” All of them currently live in the same apartment.] It’s a time of rejoicing and trial. Lots of change and growth, but now we have the ENERGY of new missionaries to jump-start this growing ward. |

Be the CTM
I am training myself ALREADY to be an MTC teacher because I have a curto prazo. [Short-term missionary.] Her name is Isabella D’avila. She turned 19 in December and just finished high school. It’s been quite a stretch for me. Sister Carvalho has been a bit stressed out from turning senior and training that she relaxes by giggling and being immature with Sister D’avila. Underneath it all, I must remember that my MTC teachers must have a LOT of patience because they see it all... all the bad, all the immature, all in all. So, I will BE it all for Sister D’avila. I will Be the CTM. SHOUT-OUT! I’ve been forgetting about my shout-outs. Brother Sikahema Brother Crandall Sister Shumway Brother Brand |
Irmão I forgot your name, but you were my favorite Brazilian instructor in the Provo MTC. [Irmão Villanova]
Irmão I forgot your name, too, but you were really tall, skinny, and white, lol

Thank you for being so patient with your Little Missionaries. I will never forget you all! I am looking back to and searching through the cobwebs of the MTC to help my companion right now. Thank-you for your inspirational guidance.
